In art, the use of negative space is actually a positive
thing. In football, not so much. Milan may as well have stayed on their bus
tonight for the entire first half, with less than 30% possession and zero
attempts at all, at least they could have listened to their iPods or something
and been more productive. The second half saw some tiny signs of life. Like
when I used to try to wake my brother from the dead in the morning. That
actually may have gone better than this game.
My brain after watching this match |
The first two things on the books for Milan were cards for
Constant in the 42nd, and Balotelli in the 60th. Those could hurt later. Then
finally, in the 90th, Ajax scored with a header, on a corner, from Denswil. 1-0
Ajax. In true Milan style, leaving it to the end and finding some favor with
the ref, Balotelli pulled his defender down onto him and his acting won a penalty.
Which he stepped up and converted, 1-1 all. So the same old story, and this time
we’ve robbed a Champions League opponent of points with a horrible performance
and a terrible penalty call. Those are the only things Milan will take from
this game. Well those, and an overwhelming sense of shame and regret. Well
done, everyone. Can’t wait for Sunday. Negative space.
