I will never understand why they start the season, and two
or three weeks later have an international break. It seems so
counter-intuitive. And with Milan’s match with Genoa having been postponed in
the wake of tragedy, we have actually only played two games thus far, while
Cagliari have played three. But it doesn’t matter now, Serie A is back. Personally,
I don’t care who we play or how many matches they’ve had, I’m just ready for my
Milan to play again, without further ado.
The generous striker is looking to score his first official goal in the red and black |
Maran’s team are coming off of a 1-0 win against Atalanta.
That free kick was scored by Barella, whom many fans would love to see in a
Milan jersey sooner rather than later. They beat the Bergamo club with six
shots, three on target, despite having less possession. For that match, Maran
lined up: Cragno; Srna, Romagna, Klavan, Padoin; Castro, Bradaric, Barella;
Ionita; Pavoletti, and Sau. Klavan is doubtful for this match along with
Farago, both with minor injuries. Ceppitelli is scheduled to miss due to a leg
injury.
The bad news for Milan is that Cutrone injured his ankle
while playing for the Italy U21 team. The worse news is that both Zapata and
Montolivo are back in the squad and available to Gattuso. Let’s hope he forgets
that Montolivo at least exists. Conti’s return has now been pushed back to
January, that poor guy, it’s unbelievable. And obviously Strinic can’t even
think about suiting up until mid-December at the earliest due to his heart
condition.
The man creates magic |
If both teams pick up where they left off, we are in for a
great game. Milan have better players on paper, but Cagliari have home
advantage. Both beat teams that finished above them last season, and both teams
had very positive momentum before the break. But that was then, and this is
now. While I desperately want a Milan win, I’m not going to underestimate
Cagliari. So let’s find out how it all turns out when Serie A finally plays
again… without further ado.
