Milan-Genoa Preview: The Sound of Silence

This match has been postponed to Wednesday May 13 due to the outbreak of COVID-19

Milan typically struggle with the lunchtime games already, now they will be playing this match behind closed doors. While obviously, this is the right thing to do for the health and safety of everyone, it also removes home advantage. Despite Genoa being in the relegation zone, with their recent run of form, Milan may not have much of an advantage at all. Which means that even watching from TV screens everywhere, Milan fans may echo the sound of the stadium, the sound of silence.

If he plays, he'll likely score against his former team. That's Zapata

Ante Rebić: Unexpected Hero

Milan’s fortunes have risen considerably this season. Credit can be given to management for making a coaching change that was an unpopular decision. Credit can be given to that coach for digging in and stabilizing the team to produce results. Credit can be given to the re-signing of Ibrahimovic, who has improved the team’s mentality in addition to bringing his own incredible skills and experience back to the club. All of those improvements could have been predicted, but there is one factor that was completely last minute and completely unexpected: Ante Rebić.

Unexpected

When Life Matters

If you know me, it is difficult for me to admit that there is anything more important than football. But sometimes, there is. With the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 in Italy, the phrase “better safe than sorry” has never been more true. So as several Serie A matches were cancelled this past weekend and more are scheduled to be played behind closed doors this coming weekend, it is important that we keep our priorities straight. People are hospitalized and dying. While we want to watch good football with full stadiums of passionate fans, we must remember that we would also like all of those fans to still be healthy and alive for the next match. As important as football is, it is also important to remember when life matters.

Empty stadiums could save lives

Fiorentina 1, Milan 1: VAR-iable

Milan were lucky to come away with the point in a match where we played poorly, especially in the second half. Sure, the team are tired and injuries are starting to set in, but we are at that point in the season where we need 90 minutes from our young team (plus a couple of champions.) What was forgotten was the football, in a match where once again, the referee’s decisions on when and how to use VAR were very inconsistent. VAR-iable.

Fiorentina-Milan Preview: Tear in My Heart

This match on paper is supposed to be more about 15th place Fiorentina hosting eighth place Milan, with seven points between them. You could talk about Pioli returning to the Stadio Artemio Franchi, to face the club he managed for nearly two years prior to coming to Milan. You can talk about all of those things, but for me this match is all about my broken heart. More specifically, facing Cutrone for the first time since he was pushed out of Milan for a spot on the roster and a chunk of change last summer. He’s a tear in my heart.

It still hurts.

Milan 1, Torino 0: Just Enough

After the amazing performance against Juventus in the Coppa Italia on Thursday, fans were waiting to see what the squad could do to follow it up. Would they be consistent with the new formation and mentality? If so, they should easily overpower a beleaguered Torino. Between injuries before and during the match, it turns out they did just enough.

More than enough

Milan-Torino Preview: Sleeping Bull

After hosting the ClownKit side of Turin on Thursday, Milan host the beleaguered side of Turin. Having just changed coaches, Torino come into this match five points and three places behind us on the table. Having lost to lower table Sampdoria last week, they also got to rest midweek, with no Coppa Italia duties (thanks to Milan.) Which means that we are facing a sleeping bull.

Milan 1, Juventus 1: Amazing

This match was absolutely amazing. From the formation and lineups, to the way our players played all 90 minutes, even when down to ten men. Juventus have shown themselves to be fallible lately, but the big story was how well Milan played. Even if it would have been better to have not conceded the goal, and to have all of our players available for the second leg, this was by far the best Milan performance I have seen all season. Amazing.

Amazing.

Coppa Italia Semifinal • Milan-Juventus Preview: React

This first leg of the Coppa Italia Semifinal will be a chance for teams to react. Both teams faced painful defeats on the weekend, although Juve had 23 more points than Verona going into their loss, whereas Milan were 19 points behind Inter going into the Derby. So there should definitely be more shame for Juventus. However, will more shame bring a greater reaction?

Which team are the biggest losers?

Inter 4, Milan 2: Acute Suffering

Sometimes, there simply aren’t words to describe something. Tonight, there are no words to describe the pain Milan fans have. It would be bad enough if we were never in the game. Comparing the amount of money spent from top to bottom, a loss to Inter would be expected. But we had hope, at halftime we had so much hope. And now all we have is acute suffering.

Indescribable pain

Inter vs. AC Milan Preview: More to Hate

There are so many reasons to hate Inter, it’s ridiculous. But this season, they gave us even more reasons: they hired the former Juventus coach and convicted match-fixer, the fake-haired Antonio Conte. And as if that wasn’t enough, they also hired former Juventus mastermind Beppe Marmotta Marotta as their sporting director. The only thing that could make Inter worse is by adding so much Juventus. Which just gives us so much more to hate.

An expensive player and a more expensive coach

Derby Week

People say that the Derby della Madonnina is unlike any other because it is a family affair. Those people have not met me. I do not just forgive or forget the years of douchebaggery that Inter has plagued the city of Milano with. For me, this week always makes my blood boil, and I always want the win, no matter how unrealistic that is. Because it’s Derby week.

The greatest single Derby moment ever

Milan 1, Verona 1: Hold On

Going into this match, we knew it would be very difficult. We were missing seven players to illness, injury, or suspension. And really, Ibrahimovic counts as more than one of those players, so we were already climbing an uphill battle. People discount Verona, but they came into this match only two points behind us, so it was always going to be tough. Milan were lucky to hold on.

Brilliance from a set piece

Milan-Verona Preview: No Tomorrow

This match falls on Groundhog Day. If you have seen the classic movie, you’ll know that the main character gets stuck in a never-ending loop where it is Groundhog Day over and over again, every day. This match also sees Borini return to the San Siro, but this time wearing the Verona crest instead of Milan’s. So it may seem a bit like there is no tomorrow.
