Milan-Parma Preview: Securing the Fortress

Returning from Prague with a win and topping our Europa League group, Milan don't have time to celebrate or even rest. On Sunday evening, we face Parma at the San Siro. The guys have said that they want to win every match, and yet this is exactly the type of match that could catch them off guard. Even without fans, we need to make teams fear coming to the San Siro. A strong performance in this match would be another step towards securing the fortress.

Returning to the ranks

Parma sit in 16th place on the table, managing a point last week in a goalless draw with Pippo's Benevento. For that match, Liverani lined up Sepe; Busi, Osorio, Alves, Iacoponi; Hernani, Scozzarella, Kurtic; Karamoh, Cornelius, and Gervinho. He will be missing Grassi and Laurini to injuries, while our former fan favorite Kucka is battling to recover from a bad bruise on his leg in order to face his former team, so is in doubt for this match.

Pioli wisely rested almost his entire starting lineup on Thursday, with the likes of Gigio Donnarumma, Romagnoli, and Calhanoglu not even traveling with the team to Prague. While it was hoped that Ibrahimovic would return for this match, it is reported that he may not be risked, with four matches in the next ten days. Kjaer is definitely still injured, but Leao returned on Thursday, and Bennacer is back from injury as well.

Defend at all costs

The performance in the Europa League match on Thursday proved that Milan are young, talented, and determined to win. We may not have the best team in the league on paper, and we certainly do not have the most expensive team, either. You will have to look below us on the table for those teams. But matches aren't played on paper. They are played with heart and mentality, and Milan have another chance on Sunday to use those qualities in securing the fortress.
