First and foremost, a hearty and sincere Happy New Year to all who read this. I cannot believe this blog will be one year old in February, it has been so much fun to share Milan with all of you, and I look forward to another great year with all of us talking about the greatest team in the world!
So 2011 brought us a Scudetto and a Supercoppa trophy, what will 2012 bring? Here are a few of my Milan wishes for 2012:
Starting Left Back. I like Taiwo, but not sure how much longer we can wait for him to step up. I’m tired of playing left back roulette. And even with a world cup winner like Zambrotta, his pace and ability to play 90 min. every match prevent him from achieving his former form. If we buy, Criscito would probably first on my list.
Super Pippo. Not sure if I ever even was aware of how much I loved the guy until he wasn’t on the pitch. In a dream world, he stays, and gets regular playing time as a super sub, maybe a start here and there if he’s up for it. But above all else, I WANNA SEE PIPPO PLAY.
Champions League. I did not believe we had the best chances of winning this year, to be honest. It’s still a stretch, but after watching our boys struggle and keep getting back up again, I want to believe. How sweet would it be to take home number 8 this year? What a tribute to those who haven’t been able to play for such long stretches.
Good Health. Seems like Allegri is more crisis manager and less football manager any more. And our boys… it’s so hard to watch them injured or stricken with serious health issues. What could this team do if everyone avoided major injuries and was reasonably healthy? It is mindboggling. I’d like to have my mind boggled this year.
Great Football. We have some of the most amazing players in the game right now. I don’t want us to decimate every team every time, I want our team to be tested. But I want highlight reels that cut into commercial breaks and to spend all week talking about great goals, saves, plays etc. that all the world knows about. And I would love for Milan to bring the world’s football focus back to the Serie A and Italian football. It’s been too long.
Okay, those are just a few random wishes as the year changes. What are some of your wishes for Milan for the new year? Please share, maybe we can make them all come true.
Finally, I would just like to thank those of you who have shared Milan with me here in this tiny corner of cyberspace. It is so humbling ringing in the New Year to see this blog reach 100,000 views in just 10 ½ months! I never expected such a big response when this blog was first dreamed up. I’m glad that I am not alone in my obsession for the Rossoneri, and it is my hope that you will all continue to read and share and help us all celebrate Milan together. Forza Milan!
