Milan-Udinese Preview: And Now For Something Completely Different

After two painful losses in a row, Gattuso has promised us “something different” for tomorrow’s match. Personally, I am hoping that it is something called winning. Or even better, a good performance. But even to take home a point (or three) would be considered mixing it up at this moment. And while Gattuso’s attempts at different have never really made me comfortable (or been successful,) I don’t want to see another performance or result like recent games. And now for something completely different.

Winning is different, winning is good

Udinese are flying high after beating Genoa 2-0 on the weekend. For that match, Tudor lined up: Musso; Stryger Larsen, Troost-Ekong, De Maio, Zeegelaar, Fofana, Sandro, Mandragora; Pussetto, Okaka, and De Paul. He will be missing Sandro and Stryger Larsen, who are both suspended due to yellow card accumulation. Nuytinck is still out, while Barak, D’Alessandro, and Machis are all still struggling with injuries and may or may not be fit. One thing is for certain, though: Milan don’t want to get any Lasagna in the face.

Gattuso has more ideas now than he did last season when things fell apart. Whether or not they are good ideas remains to be seen. He has one new injury, Conti is out with an injury. Obviously, Bonaventura is still out, too. But other than that, he has a full squad to tinker with. He spoke of things like playing a trequartista, which sounds lovely, as well as a possible three man backline. That terrifies me.

Something does need to change, we can only hope it is for the better. Not only can we not afford to drop any more points in the race for Champions League spots, we cannot afford to lose any more mentality by losing matches and playing poorly. So get ready at least for some tactical changes. And now for something completely different.
